The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives was renewed for 20 more episodes in November 2025
Executive producer Jeff Jenkins said the series shoots "quasi back-to-back," which means filming for season 5 began sometime in early 2026
Production for the series' fifth season halted in March 2026 amid a domestic violence investigation involving star Taylor Frankie Paul
Hulu ordered 20 more episodes of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives in November 2025. Though season 4 premiered with 10 episodes the following March, it remains to be seen if season 5 will ever make it to air.
At the time of the renewal, executive producer Jeff Jenkins told Deadline that the plan was to shoot "chunks of 10 episodes, kind of quasi back-to-back, with that one- or two-month break in between.”
Seeing as how the fourth season wrapped in October 2025, so that cast member Taylor Frankie Paul could start filming The Bachelorette, the fifth season likely picked up the cameras in early 2026 after she finished shooting the dating show.
However, multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE in March that production on season 5 paused due to "some pretty serious stuff happening" with Paul and her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen.
The Draper City Police Department confirmed that there was an open "domestic assault investigation" involving the former couple, with allegations made in "both directions."
ABC later canceled her Bachelorette season after a disturbing video leaked from a 2023 altercation, after which Paul pleaded guilty to a felony count of aggravated assault (a count that will be reduced to a misdemeanor if Paul complies with her plea agreement).
NBC News reported that Paul was being investigated in connection with a third alleged domestic violence incident believed to have occurred in 2024. PEOPLE has not yet heard back from the Draper City Police Department.
So, will there be a The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives season 5? Here's everything to know about the status of the reality show's fifth season and what the cast has said about its future.

The fifth season of the reality show likely began filming in early 2026. Though the exact month is unclear, star Jessi Draper confirmed to E! News that filming for season 5 was underway in March 2026. But by March 16, production had stopped due to the situation between Paul and Mortensen.
"They are not filming," an insider told PEOPLE. "Taylor [Frankie Paul] has some pretty serious stuff happening regarding her past, and they will see what happens. Until that resolves, they are off."

“It was a decision that all us girls came up with and agreed on,” she confirmed. “We didn’t feel comfortable filming with everything that was happening.”
During an interview with Good Morning America, Paul acknowledged the production halt but said that she didn't know how long it would go on for.
Draper also gave an update while on Call Her Daddy and confirmed that the season was still "on a film pause."
"I feel like all of us right now are just trying to like be like, 'Okay, we're human beings first, and let's figure that out and then we'll get back to filming the show,' " she said.
Joking to host Alex Cooper, she added, "Clearly there's no shortage of drama in our lives. So, if we get another season, it's going to be good."
