Wendy’s has sweet news for customers who felt sour about one condiment’s departure.
The fast food spot announced that its fan-favorite Sweet and Sour sauce will be back in spring 2026. The announcement comes just three months after the dip was quietly removed from menus in September.
The return comes after the brand saw “hundreds of comments across social” about the loss of Sweet and Sour sauce, according to a press release. Wendy’s recruited influencer Jaz Smith (also known as @justjazzzyidk) to make the announcement in a video shared on socials earlier this week.

On Sept. 30, when the chain released its revamped Chicken Tenders (also known as Tendys), Wendy’s also released six new sauces. The six new sauces—Wendy’s Signature, Sweet Chili, Scorchin’ Hot, Creamy Ranch, Honey BBQ and Honey Mustard—were nearly double the size of the original sauces (for “maximum dunkability”) and replaced the preexisting dips. The new sauces are taking the place of former choices, including BBQ, Ghost Pepper Ranch and Sweet and Sour.
A source at Wendy's was unable to confirm whether the Sweet and Sour sauce will be replacing any other sauce.
Wendy's isn't the only chain capitalizing on nostalgia, as Taco Bell is focused on comeback menu items now, too.
The Mexican food chain brought back its once-discontinued Quesarito and Cheesy Dipping Burritos on Dec. 18.
The Quesarito was first introduced in 2014 before leaving menus in 2023, according to Taco Bell Wiki. It takes a burrito — filled with ground beef, rice, chipotle sauce and sour cream — and wraps it in a cheese quesadilla.
The Cheesy Dipping Burritos are served as a pair with options for steak or slow-roasted chicken, but have a new twist thanks to a viral Reddit menu hack. Fans can choose between three dipping sauces: Creamy Garlic Sauce, Creamy Chipotle Sauce or the classic nacho cheese sauce.
