The Christmas season, Kate Middleton shared previously, is her favorite time of year. As the Princess of Wales wrote for her carol service at Westminster Abbey one year, the holiday “is a time for celebration and joy, but it also gives us the opportunity to slow down and reflect on the deeper things that connect us all. It is when we stop and take ourselves away from the pressures of daily life, that we find the space to live our lives with an open heart, with love, kindness and forgiveness—so much of what the Christmas spirit is all about.”

For this year’s traditional royal Christmas at Sandringham, the Princess of Wales was celebrating with her family. Kate and Prince William’s three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—joined the rest of the royals once again on the walk to St Mary Magdalene. For the occasion, she wore a brown check coat and a brown fascinator; the coat appears to be the Blazé Milano coat she wore on her first engagement of 2025, when she visited the hospital where she received cancer treatment and announced she was in remission. Wearing the coat for her first engagement of the year and her last is a nice full-circle moment for the Princess.

It was a less festive outfit than the fur-trimmed green coat she chose for her annual Christmas service earlier this month.

For Christmas, the Waleses stay at their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall, a property on the Sandringham estate that was a wedding gift from Queen Elizabeth. The house was briefly their full-time residence after Princess Charlotte was born, but the Wales family soon left for London and then later decamped for Windsor. The family of five now lives in Forest Lodge; they moved just this past fall to their new “forever home.”
