Steelers linked to wild free agency move for All-Pro WR Tyreek Hill

Less than five days out from their regular season opener against the Atlanta Falcons, the Pittsburgh Steelers have been linked to a former All-Pro wide receiver coming off a serious leg injury in 2025.
According to Sports Illustrated's Noah Strackbein, if the Steelers don't trust their WR3 and are in need of a more proven playmaker, five-time First-Team All-Pro wideout Tyreek Hill would be an excellent pickup for the AFC North squad.
"Hill probably fits perfectly in the Steelers' offense at this point in his career," Strackbein wrote. "As a reliable slot option, Hill can bring his speed to the middle of the field and try to create plays after the catch in open space. He can then bounce to the outside and allow Pittman and Metcalf to play the inside as well, giving Rodgers and the Steelers offense three veteran options that are versatile.

"That sounds pretty difficult to stop if you're an opposing defense. It would be a wild move by the Steelers, but not one anyone should be ruling out just yet. You never know how the season is going to play out, and if Pittsburgh believes they need some help at wide receiver, acting fast for an eight-time Pro Bowler sounds like a move a team trying to contend would make."
Strackbein may be onto something here, as not many defenses can stop an offense spearheaded by a receiving corps featuring DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman, and Hill. But the team has shown a lot of confidence in Roman Wilson and Germie Bernard as their potential third wide receiver, which could point to a lack of urgency to target an aging veteran with injury concerns like Hill.
