Claflin's new Prime Video series Lazarus is streaming now
Sam Claflin is sharing a funny mishap he and Jennifer Lawrence had while filming the Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire.
While the actor, 39, spoke with PEOPLE about his role in the new Prime Video series Lazarus, he shared that the trident his character Finnick Odair used in Catching Fire once broke off while he was filming a fight scene with Lawrence, 35 — and left a bruise on Lawrence.
"I honestly really look back at that time with so many fond memories, and just generally running around the jungles of Hawaii with Lynn Cohen on my back, and I was sprinting through brush and rolling down hills and telling jokes and sitting in hot tubs in the middle of the jungle," Claflin says.
"I remember this one time at the end of a take, I was like, 'Oh my God, the bottom of my trident came off in the middle of that fight choreography,' " he adds. "I remember Jen saying, 'I know what [happened]...' She basically, in the middle of the fight, she felt like she'd been bitten in the bum, and she ended up realizing that the end of my trident spun off and smacked her right in the bum cheek."
As Claflin recalled, Lawrence "then got someone to take a photo of a welt that would appear, and it was the same shape as the circular end of my trident, but right on her bum cheek."

Claflin began acting professionally for the screen three years before he took on his role as Finnick, a Hunger Games champion forced back into the ring in the series' second film. He reprised the role in both 2014's Mockingjay - Part 1 and 2015's Mockingjay - Part 2 as a key ally of Lawrence's Katniss Everdeen in her conflict with an authoritarian regime.
"Catching Fire was such a special time in my life," Clafin tells PEOPLE. He noted that he recently spent time with director Francis Lawrence to watch the filmmaker's latest movie The Long Walk, which Claflin describes as "incredible."
"We were all reminiscing about the times [filming Hunger Games]," Claflin adds. "And they're obviously now shooting the Haymitch prequel, which is really exciting. I was still trying to get myself into a cameo role."Claflin's series Lazarus is now streaming on Prime Video.
