Secretary of State Marco Rubio may be neck-deep in the Trump administration’s efforts to extricate the U.S. from war with Iran, but he’s still finding time to talk about an important issue: Pop-Tarts.
The Trump Cabinet secretary and his wife, Jeanette, appeared Tuesday on the Katie Miller Pod, hosted by the wife of top White House aide Stephen Miller, just as DC was devouring a shocking scoop from the Washington Post detailing how Rubio and other Cabinet officials were left onboard Air Force One, essentially as decoys, while President Donald Trump snuck onto an alternate plane for his return trip from Turkey last month.
Rubio didn’t talk about that story or give any information about diplomatic efforts to find an end to the war with Iran during his appearance, but was asked instead about his diet, whether he subscribed to the “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA) ideology, and other riveting points of personal trivia.
After prodding from his wife over his love of junk food, Rubio gave an impassioned defense of an iconic — albeit ultra-processed — breakfast treat, the Pop-Tart, which Jeanette identified as his favorite food.
“The Pop-Tart is one of the great American innovations in the history of the world. If you think about it, it comes in this beautiful foil pack,” said Rubio.
As he spoke, his wife continually chided him: “You eat all the things you should not be eating. Every single thing.”
“Like what?” the secretary responded, to which Jeanette answered: “Anything with sugar, you will take it down.”
“He loves fast food. He loves it all,” she added, as Miller stifled a laugh.

The second Trump administration has been repeatedly punctuated by efforts of those with proximity to the president attempting to become influencers within the conservative media sphere, and during Miller’s interview with the Rubios they brought up another: Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who recently posted a video of himself exercising with Kid Rock. In the bizarre video, Kennedy appears in his signature shirtless-and-jeans workout look and the pair work out in, among other locations, a sauna. The Health secretary also now has his own cooking show.
Rubio seemingly mocked his fellow secretary’s protein-heavy diet during his interview with Miller, joking that it was “unsustainable” given that RFK Jr. apparently had to “travel the world with a cooler full of sauerkraut” to maintain the lifestyle.

The secretary of state remains one of the most talked-about figures in terms of the Republican Party’s 2028 field and his frequent proximity to the president during his second administration has only elevated that perception.
Rubio’s endorsement may not have been exactly what the brand was looking for, but the company likely won’t mind the free press.
Pop-Tarts has embraced a viral marketing scheme in recent years and has sponsored the Pop-Tarts Bowl, a major college football match held live on ESPN near the end of the year — and one which features a larger-than-life giant Pop-Tart as the reward for the winning team. This year’s game will be on December 29.

Miller’s husband has been playing a prominent role at recent White House events and was by Trump’s side last week when the president unveiled a new pair of executive orders aiming to restrict so-called “birth tourism” and the concept of birthright citizenship, which the Supreme Court upheld in the face of a challenge by the Trump Justice Department this year.
But his vision of overseeing the strictest and most all-encompassing mass deportation program in American history also seemed to falter in June as news reports indicated that he and “border czar” Tom Homan were boxed out of the decisionmaking process around the selection of the new head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“Everyone was blindsided by the selection, including Homan and Miller,” a source with knowledge of the discussions told The Daily Beast.
The White House attacked those reports as “fake news”.
