Things reportedly got heated on the set of *Outer Banks*' fifth and final season earlier this week.

According to TMZ, who first reported the news, on Wednesday, series co-creator and executive producer Jonas Pate allegedly put his hands on an unnamed female production assistant and shook her while shouting in her face, at which point several of the Netflix series' stars, including Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes, reportedly intervened in an attempt to de-escalate the tension.

A source told PEOPLE that Pate "was screaming at the female production assistant and grabbed her by her shoulders and shook her. He didn’t hurt her or try to hurt her. He just crossed a line. Putting your hands on someone is never, ever okay."

Reps for Pate, Netflix, Cline, and Stokes did not immediately return **'s request for comment Thursday.

The popular series — which Netflix describes "as a coming of age story that follows the tight-knit group of Pogues (John B, Sarah, Kiara, Pope, JJ, and Cleo) as they navigate a chain of illicit events filled with mystery, adventure, a high-stakes treasure hunt and the escalating conflict with their rivals" — is currently filming in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Per TMZ, "tensions were high" on the set leading up to the alleged incident, which sources told the outlet was not "unusual behavior" for Pate.

In a separate report Thursday, the outlet stated that production was not halted as a result of the alleged incident and that Pate was still fully involved in the series, which also stars Madison Bailey, Jonathan Daviss, Drew Starkey, Carlacia Grant, Austin North, and Fiona Palomo. Tony Crane and Cullen Moss will also return for season 5, this time as series regulars.

In June, Netflix confirmed that filming of the fifth and final season had begun. “We are over the moon to be setting out on one last trip with the Pogues,” creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke told Tudum at the time. “Being back on set with our cast for this final round is nothing short of bittersweet and surreal. We can't wait to show everyone what we have in store this season — it's going to be a wild ride…”

The creators also teased that they already had the series' final frame figured out, with Josh telling Tudum last season, “We’ve always known from the beginning what the last scene would be."

The highly anticipated final season is slated to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2026.**
