The Andy Green era of Mets baseball has officially begun.

After Green spent the last three months as the Mets' interim manager, the club shed that label and made him their full-time manager on Tuesday. The Mets and Green agreed to terms on a three-year deal, club president of baseball operations David Stearns announced.

The first game of that new reality for the Mets comes at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday as they open a three-game series with the Rangers at Globe Life Field.

The Mets are coming off a series split with the Phillies as they moved to 71-85 on the season. The Rangers currently lead the AL West at 78-78, with the Astros sitting one game back at 77-79.

The veteran left-hander is 5-7 with a 4.74 ERA and 1.32 WHIP entering his 18th start and 32nd appearance of the season. He allowed two earned runs on four hits with six strikeouts in 5⅓ innings in his latest start against the Orioles.

The Rangers have MacKenzie Gore on the mound for the series opener. The left-hander is 8-11 with a 4.67 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 172 strikeouts in 165⅔ innings. Gore has not pitched more than four innings in his last three starts. He gave up three earned runs to the Red Sox in four innings in his most recent start.
