North Carolina farmers struggling with high cost of diesel

(WGHP) -- Rising diesel prices are putting the squeeze on North Carolina farmers and truck drivers.
The national average is $6.44 a gallon, which is nearly $3 higher than a year ago.
North Carolina's average is $6.23 a gallon, which is up from $5.33 a gallon a month ago.

Off-road diesel is a bit cheaper than regular diesel, but major increases are still being seen.
NC farmers say that between the drought and high diesel prices, they're just trying to survive right now.
They also say the price of off-road diesel is at least 50% higher than normal.
