Noah Lyles’ Wife Junelle Reveals He Planned Their ‘Whole’ Wedding: ‘Very, Very Impressed’ (Exclusive)

Junelle Lyles reveals on PEOPLE’s WAG World series that her husband, Noah Lyles, planned their entire wedding on April 4
The couple met online in 2017 and maintained a friendship before officially dating in 2022
They credit a “three-month trial period” relationship check-in system for strengthening their bond
Junelle Lyles let Noah Lyles take the lead.
The two-time Olympian, 28, reflected on her April 4 wedding to the track and field star, 29, revealing on PEOPLE’s WAG World series that her now-husband — who is widely regarded as the fastest man in the world — planned the entire ceremony to her surprise.
“Most of the wedding was a surprise to me because Noah planned the whole thing,” Junelle tells WAG World host Skyler Caruso in the Thursday, July 30 episode released exclusively on the PEOPLE app.

“The only thing I said I want was a reflective aisle and a lot of flowers,” she shares. “Everything else was all him. He did so good! A lot of people are afraid of planning their wedding in the track-and-field world in April or early in the season, because it takes so much time and everything.”
Junelle adds: “He planned that wedding and was back to winning races two weeks after, so I was impressed.”
The Jamaican athlete, who describes herself as a “visionary” but someone who “wanted to step back” for this milestone event, deemed Noah the “planner.” “He’s also a visionary,” Junelle gushes. “He’s just amazing. He’s good at everything.”
“He has so many talents,” she continues of Noah, who won a gold medal in the 100-meter final the 2024 Paris Olympics. “I was the one that decided to step back and let him plan because he has more patience for that stuff and he’s better at communicating with people than I am.”
“He has a high social energy and he loves interacting with people — so it was good for him to talk to the florists, to talk to everybody,” Junelle adds.
Among the wedding highlights for Junelle was a performance by renowned gospel singer Tasha Cobbs Leonard, a moment from the reception that Noah put into motion months in advance.

“I’m kind of nosy,” she jokes. “Nothing that goes around in the house misses me... I had a hint at first because he asked what my favorite gospel song was. I was like, ‘You’re getting Tasha for the wedding, aren’t you?’ He’s like, ‘No.’ But that ask was like seven months old.”
She adds, “So I was very surprised that he got Tasha without me knowing.”
No one knows Junelle better than Noah, who crossed paths with her at Royal Juniors in 2016. Although they didn’t meet at the time, they were familiar with each other as standout track and field athletes.

“He was quite popular. I wasn’t that popular,” Junelle says with a laugh.
Junelle recalls meeting Noah online in 2017, when she saw him post a plate a food on Instagram and asked if he prepared the dish himself. Although Noah’s brother was behind the meal in question, the exchange got the conversation rolling.
“Noah believed that I slid in his DM with intentions,” she says with a laugh. “I was just thinking about food because I love — so we became friends, and four months afterwards he texted me. He asked, ‘Can I call you? I need to say something.’”

Junelle noted they didn’t always opt for phone calls because the “internet was terrible” where she lived in Jamaica, and her “accent was thick.” Noah, meanwhile, was in America for his track training.
“He called me and he was like, ‘Hey, I really like you,’” she recalls. “We tried to meet a couple of times. It did not happen because I was so into track and field. I was into training, and so on. I was like, ‘Yeah, I can’t step away right now.’ Eventually I visited him in 2018. That went horribly.”
Junelle notes “it was just a difference in personality” as she tends “to be very observant from the beginning.” “I don’t really talk a lot. Noah from the get-go was energy! Energy! Energy! He pulled up at the airport, music was up, everything... So it was very overstimulating at the time,” she says.

The duo decided to “keep being friends” rather than pursue something romantically at the time. Noah visited her in 2018 and felt they had a “really good connection.”
“We did not start dating until 2022,” Junelle shares, noting she was fearful she would “lose a friendship” if they gave it a chance.

Ultimately, the duo went for it after hearing wise words from Noah’s mom, who taught them about the “three-month trial period.” Junelle explains, “We check in every fifth of the month. We see what can be changed in the relationship. What do you like? What do I like? What can you do differently?”
She adds, “It’s just a safe space where we can both come in and express ourself — and I would say that worked out pretty well.”
