The granddaughter of fascist dictator Benito Mussolini has won the latest season of Italy’s version of Celebrity Big Brother.
Alessandra Mussolini, 63, won Grande Fratello VIP and the $116,000 prize on the night of Tuesday, May 19, according to Mediaite and The New York Post.
The former actress, singer and European Parliament member spent 63 days playing the game, which she won after receiving 55.95% of the audience vote, reported Italian newspaper Il Messaggero.
Alessandra beat out Antonella Elia, an actress and television personality, for the grand prize.
“I enjoyed everything to the fullest, just as I am. I regret nothing,” said Alessandra after her victory, according to Mediaite and The Telegraph.
Alessandra is the daughter of the dictator's youngest child, Romano Mussolini, and Maria Scicolone, the sister of an Italian actress, according to The Times of London.
She has previously shown support for her grandfather — a totalitarian dictator who ruled over Italy for two decades and aligned with Adolf Hitler — and reportedly once said she was “fascist and proud of it.”
In 1992, Alessandra ran for parliament as member of Italy's neo-fascist Italian Social Movement (MSI), according to EuroNews. Giorgia Meloni, who has been serving as Prime Minister of Italy since October 2022, reportedly joined the same party the same year as a teenager.

Some political commentators have expressed concern about the normalization of Benito Mussolini, who has become part of Italian pop culture, according to the Times.
Speaking with Italian newspaper Leggo, Alessandra described her time on Grande Fratello VIP as “incredibly rewarding.” She also said her key to success was being herself “beyond any label and prejudice.”
“People didn’t know me in this light: only there did they see my daily life," she explained.

This is not the first reality television competition that Alessandra has competed in.
In 2020, she placed third on Italy’s version of Dancing with the Stars, according to The Daily Mail. She later appeared on Italy’s version of The Masked Singer.
Six years earlier she also served as a judge on the show La pupa e il secchione, which translates to The Babe and the Nerd in English, per Mediaite.
