Michelle Pfeiffer is rebuilding her life after a loss in Taylor Sheridan's new series, The Madison.
On Tuesday, Feb. 24, Paramount+ revealed the trailer for the new series, which stars Pfeiffer, Kurt Russell, Patrick J. Adams and Matthew Fox, among others, and is described as a "heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana."
In the trailer, Pfeiffer, who plays Stacy Clyburn, is grieving. She's seen leaving N.Y.C. and embracing life in Montana with her family, who bond over activities like learning to fish with her grandkid. "Memories, it's like a movie we can play over and over to revisit all those times we did have together — all the talks, all the laughs, all the hugs," she says in a voiceover.
While it's unclear what she's struggling with, Russell doesn't appear in the same scenes in Montana alongside Stacy. At point point, Stacy says that her family is not "designed to withstand tragedy" and collapses in tears as she wades into a lake.
"I'm 65 years old, I have a very small window to feed this," Stacy says, pointing to her heart.
"You will have as much life as you allow yourself to," Dr. Phill Yorn (Will Arnett) tells her.

Russell, who plays Preston Clyburn, is mostly with his brother Paul (Fox) in the trailer, as they go fishing and spend time in the Montana wildlife.
"That's why I'm here. I make a memory a day," Paul tells Preston in the trailer.

Little is known about what the plot of The Madison will be, but it's described as "Sheridan’s most intimate work to date," and a story "unfolding across two distinct worlds - the beautiful landscape of Montana and the vibrant energy of Manhattan - as it examines the ties that bind families together."
Along with Pfeiffer, Russell, Fox, Adams and Arnett, the series stars Beau Garrett, Elle Chapman, Amiah Miller, Alaina Pollack, Ben Schnetzer, Kevin Zegers, Rebecca Spence and Danielle Vasinova.

Russell, 74, told Entertainment Weekly that the series is "a smart show" as he teased what fans can expect.
“I really like what The Madison is," he said. “[Sheridan is] a really good writer — Taylor's excellent, and Michelle's great, and she's really great in this show."
“They're all really good, but it is [Sheridan's] writing that is so compelling,” Russell continued. “And I think that it's a very different show for Taylor in that it's a very female-gaze-oriented show. And I think it's extremely well written, it was fun to play. It was really fun to do. I just had a good time.”
The Madison premieres March 14 on Paramount+ with three episodes. The following three will premiere on March 21.
