Mayor of Kingstown is centered around the McLusky family, who are unofficial power brokers in Kingstown, Mich., but, in real life, the cast has bustling families of their own.
Jeremy Renner, who stars as series lead, Mike McLusky, is a father to his daughter Ava, whom he welcomed with his ex-wife, Sonni Pacheco. Likewise, Taylor Handley, who plays Renner's younger brother in the show, is a dad to one daughter as well.
When Renner isn't on set, he's prioritizing time with Ava.
“The only thing I think about when I’m not with my baby is, 'How do I get to my baby?' ” he shared in a 2014 interview with Capitol File magazine. ”I’m very miserable when I don’t see her. I really love being a father.”

Renner — who plays Mike McLusky, former inmate and current Kingstown fixer — is a proud dad to his daughter, Ava.
The Avengers star welcomed his only child, Ava Berlin Renner, on March 28, 2013, with his ex-wife, Sonni Pacheco. In an interview with Capitol File magazine the following year, he noted that becoming a father later in life was the "best thing I have ever done.”
“By then I achieved a lot of things that I wanted to achieve; I’m so blessed for that. Now I can really spend time with the family,” he said, adding that he tries to spend as much time with Ava as possible.
Renner has been careful to guard Ava’s privacy, but she has accompanied her famous father to various red carpet events over the years. In 2017, she was his date to the Oscars. Ava joined him again on the red carpet in April 2023, just three months after his near-fatal snowplow accident in which he was run over by the 14,300-lb. vehicle.
Following his accident, Ava not only served as a primary motivator for his recovery but also as a caretaker for the actor.
“I became the kid for the first six months. My daughter had to take care of me,” Renner told Parents magazine in April 2024. “There was something quite beautiful in that role reversal. She had to grow up in a lot of ways.”
He went on to say that his near-death experience only amplified the importance of parenthood. “I really understand my place as her father,” he said. “It is my duty to teach her how to love, how to be strong, how to overcome. Leading by example has always been important to me.”

Handley stars in the series as Kyle McLusky, Mike’s younger brother. In season 3, he became a dad for the first time with the birth of his son, baby Mitch. The actor is also a dad in real life.
Speaking to Digital Journal in July 2024, Handley shared his excitement about playing a new dad on the show. “It has been a lot of fun working on that storyline,” he said, adding, “Babies make you see things through a whole new lens.”
Off-screen, the actor and his wife, Audra Lynn Handley, share a daughter. The couple, who married in 2013, haven’t revealed her name, but they did bring her along to a red carpet event in 2017.
In an interview with Photobook Magazine in 2023, Handley listed his role as “father” first when asked to describe himself, saying, “We can start with my current titles as father, husband, friend and actor.”

Hamish Allan-Headley — who plays police sergeant Robert Sawyer in the show — recently became a father himself.
On Feb. 5, 2025, Allan-Headley and his wife, actress Allie Dunbar, welcomed a baby boy, Montgomery Jack Dunbar-Headley. Dunbar shared the news with a heartfelt post on Instagram.
“Welcome to the world little Monty,” she wrote alongside a series of photos of her and Allan-Headley with their newborn. “Our little eager beaver came almost 7 weeks before his due date! After a few weeks receiving INCREDIBLE care at the NICU at St Joe’s, our little squad is home."
After thanking the NICU nurses and staff members, she thanked the Mayor of Kingstown production team “for making it possible for Hamish to be there for the birth despite the very early arrival of our lil dude.”
She then gave a sweet shout-out to her husband, calling him her “soulmate” and the “best pops in the entire world."

Edie Falco — who is joining season 4 of Mayor of Kingstown as the new prison warden, Nina Hobbs — is a mom to two kids.
The actress welcomed them through adoption: son Anderson in 2005 and daughter Macy in 2008.
In a 2010 interview with Redbook, Falco opened up about why she chose to adopt children as a single mother.
“I had never really been that interested in having kids, but I had a bunch of relationships in a row where we had talked about it, and it was like the seed had been planted — figuratively at least. The relationships didn't last, but the kid thing never really went away,” she explained.
She went on to say that after recovering from breast cancer, she decided it was the right time to become a mother.
Speaking to Vanity Fair in April 2023, the Nurse Jackie star shared how motherhood helped shape her acting, admitting that it was easier to portray a mother on screen after having kids.
“It does help to be a mom to understand just how all-consuming it is,” she said.

Lennie James’s 3 daughters

Another new cast member for season 4 is Lennie James. The BAFTA winner joins the series as Frank Moses, a notorious gangster from Detroit. In real life, James is a father of three.
The actor and his wife, Giselle Glasman, share three daughters: Romy and twins Georgia and Celine.
“I have been a dad for much longer than I haven’t been a dad," James told The Times in November 2024. "I was a father at 23. It’s something I’ve always cherished and worked really hard at."
He added, “I didn’t grow up with someone in that role for me. Some psychiatrists or psychoanalysts would say that has spurred me on to make sure that I was there for my daughters, and why fatherhood has been so defining for me.”
James and Glasman have kept their family life away from the spotlight. Still, two of their kids have gone into the entertainment industry, though they work behind the scenes.
“I’m fine with that,” he told The Guardian in 2022. “I work in a profession that, ultimately, you do because your heart can’t let you do something else.”
“So if my girls want to work in this industry, it’s got to be because they really want to and they can sustain themselves through the ups and the downs,” he continued. “So far, they’re managing that, and I’m exceptionally proud of all of them.”

Laura Benanti is also joining season 4 of the crime drama. The actress — who plays Cindy Stephens, a new correctional officer — is a mom of two.
Benanti and her husband, Patrick Brown, welcomed their first child, daughter Ella Rose Benanti-Brown, on Feb. 14, 2017.
“My dad, Sal, was born on Valentine’s Day and I’m convinced she waited to share her birthday with her grandpa,” the actress told PEOPLE.
On July 9, 2022, the couple welcomed their second daughter, Louisa Georgia Benanti-Brown, via surrogate.
Though the girls are still young, Ella seems to have caught the performing bug — and Benanti isn't sure she's too keen on the idea of her daughter following in her footsteps.
“I am not at all ready for that,” she told PEOPLE in February 2024. “She has the comedic timing, she's so good at dancing, she loves it so much, she keeps being like, 'Please, please, please let me do it' — and I'm over here like, 'Oh no, this is terrible.' "
