Season 12 of Chicago Med premieres on Oct. 7

The drama-packed season will see the return of Oliver Platt, S. Epatha Merkerson, Sarah Ramos and many more cast members

While the NBC medical drama follows the twisted lives of the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center crew, in reality, many of the show’s stars are in relationships

Heart-pumping drama and romance has been part of Chicago Med for 11 seasons, but the cast have their own love stories off-screen, too.

Oliver Platt, who’s been part of the medical drama since it premiered on NBC on Nov. 17, 2015, has been married to his wife since the early ‘90s. Platt’s costar Nick Gehlfuss tied the knot with his wife in May 2016 and his on-screen partner Torrey DeVitto got hitched in September 2024.

Though Gehlfuss and DeVitto returned for two episodes of season 11, neither has a planned appearance for season 12. However, cast members Platt, S. Epatha Merkerson, Jessy Schram, Luke Mitchell, Steven Weber, Sarah Ramos and Darren Barnet are all expected to return for the new season.

Off-screen, the cast turn to their partners for calm.

“Family life to me is incredibly important and fulfilling, and it keeps the noise of show biz in perspective for me,” Platt told The Oklahoman in June 2011, adding, “My wife is very grounded, unimpressed by the superficial trappings of show biz.”

Here’s everything to know about the real-life partners of the Chicago Med cast.

Platt portrays Dr. Daniel Charles, head of psychiatry, on Chicago Med. He has been married to his wife, Mary Camilla Bonsal Campbell (who goes by Camilla), since September 1992, per The New York Times.

The pair tied the knot in Kittery Point, Maine, and at the time, the outlet reported that Campbell was a “freelance assistant producer of documentary films in New York.” They have three children: daughters Lily and Claire and son George.

In honor of their wedding anniversary in 2025, The Bearactor wrote on Instagram, “33 years ago this very day. Lucky? Me? C’mon…”

Over the years, Platt has described his family as a grounding force in his life.

“I put a lot of energy into it, and I’m tired a lot, but that’s what keeps me sane, my family,” he told Deseret News in November 1998 about traveling back and forth to see his wife and kids while acting. “The more work I put into that, the more stability I get out of it, the better I feel as a husband and father.”

“It means taking that extra step as partners and co-pilots,” the Nashville alum told PEOPLE of her wedding. “That extra commitment mentally, physically, cosmically to doing and creating life with someone. For us it’s a declaration, not only to ourselves, but with our community, that we choose each other.”

Schram frequently shares photos of Taylor’s work on social media.

In honor of Valentine’s Day 2025, she posted a trio of photos with her husband on Instagram alongside the caption, “He who holds my heart.”

While on the show, Gehlfuss’ character left Chicago to be with his longtime girlfriend Dr. Natalie Manning (DeVitto), but in reality, he has been married to wife Lilian Matsuda since May 2016.

The couple tied the knot in a “big wedding in Ohio.”

“It rained that day in the morning, which is good luck,” Gehlfuss told PEOPLE. “And then it was perfect after that. And it was on Friday the 13th, and the next day it dropped twenty degrees and then Sunday, blizzard, snowing on the way here.”

The couple welcomed their first child in 2021, and Matsuda shared on Instagram that she and Gehlfuss expanded their family with a second child in 2024.

Off-camera, the actress has been in a relationship with director Jared LaPine since June 2023.

LaPine popped the question a few months after they started dating, and the pair tied the knot in September 2024. Shortly after their intimate nuptials, they welcomed a daughter in December.

Not long after giving birth, DeVitto paid tribute on Instagram to “the man who makes all my dreams come true daily.”

“The greatest accomplishment I’ve ever achieved was giving our daughter an incredible dad like you. We love you so much!” she concluded the caption, in honor of her husband’s birthday, shared alongside a black-and-white photo of LaPine holding their newborn.
