Martin Short was supported by his family at the premiere of his latest project.

On Wednesday, May 6, the actor and comedian, 76, was joined by his sons Oliver, 40, and Henry, 36, for the Los Angeles special screening of his upcoming Netflix documentary film, Marty, Life Is Short, held at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.

The Only Murders in the Building star was all smiles as he posed with his loved ones on the red carpet, looking smart in a black suit and checkered tie. Oliver opted for a navy blue suit and red patterned tie, while his brother Henry matched him in a blue suit jacket, crisp white shirt and black trousers.

Those also in attendance included Short’s friends, from his OMITB costar Selena Gomez and her husband Benny Blanco, to the likes of Kate Hudson and longtime pals Eugene Levy and Billy Crystal.

The screening marked Short and his sons' first public appearance since the death of his daughter Katherine Short by suicide in February. She was 42.

"It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,” the Short family told PEOPLE in a statement at the time. “The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”

The Los Angeles coroner confirmed to PEOPLE that Katherine, who worked as a licensed clinical social worker, died by suicide.

Short welcomed his three children via adoption with his late wife of 30 years, Nancy Dolman. Dolman died from ovarian cancer at age 58 in 2010.

During a 2025 appearance on Ted Danson and Woody Harrelson’s podcast Where Everybody Knows Your Name, Short opened up about fatherhood and the joy becoming a grandfather had brought him.

"I now have three grandsons," he told the podcast hosts. "Theo will be four in January. And then Grayson is two and four months, and Campbell just turned two. It's so amazing. It is unbelievable. I don't know, 12 years ago, whatever. I was 63 or something, I was just starting to get a smidge grumpy about aging. Just, you know, I'm not crazy about this arthritis or whatever was sitting in. And then the first grandchild arrives, and it's like, oh, f--- it, I'm in."

"I don't care about anything anymore about my little this and that, I just so want to be around this. It's so magical,” he continued. “They love you, these grandkids. And you do get to hand them back. That's a cliche, but it is true. You don't have to be on the front lines as much. When you're in it as a father, as a parent, it's just too immediate to have any distance. You can love your kids through the roof, but there's something different and wonderful [about grandparenthood]."

Marty, Life Is Short will offer an intimate look at the star’s life and career, exploring his  decades-spanning roles and larger-than-life personality.

Directed by Oscar nominee Lawrence Kasdan, the doc combines rare archival footage with new interviews, per The Hollywood Reporter, while the trailer shows that Short will also touch on some of the losses he has experienced in his life.
