Kate Gosselin shared insight into her mindset as her son Collin continues sharing new allegations about his childhood

Collin, 22, announced earlier this month that he is releasing a tell-all memoir about growing up on reality TV that will reveal "some of the hardest moments of my life"

Kate, who shares Collin and seven other kids with ex-husband Jon Gosselin, has addressed some of her son's allegations in TikTok comments

Kate Gosselin is sharing her perspective as her son Collin continues to share allegations about his childhood.

The former reality TV star, who gained fame with her then-husband Jon Gosselin onJon & Kate Plus 8 in 2007, is facing renewed scrutiny after her son Collin, one of the sextuplets she and Jon, 49, share, announced he is releasing a tell-all memoir about his childhood.

The book, Collin wrote in an Instagram post, "forced me to revisit some of the hardest moments of my life," and he promised that what's inside "isn’t the story people think they know."

Kate has continued posting on TikTok after her son's announcement, and the comments section of her videos is often filled with fans bringing up the drama, either to offer her support or to share their own thoughts. Under a June 29 video, one follower wrote, "Sending you love Kate! You know your truth and what a great mom you are." In response, Kate, 51, thanked the person and wrote, "I’m fine. Nothing surprises me anymore in that department 😳."

It was under the same video that she referenced taking legal action against her son. "If you are 100% certain that the accusations against you are lies, my suggestion would be to take him to court and sue him for defamation!" one person commented.

"I can't bc I'm a public figure. Rules are different, unfortunately," Kate replied. "Or I def would!"

In another comment, she said she previously "consulted a high-power LA attorney" about a defamation suit "years ago when other ppl were putting crazy stuff out there and that's what he said." She added, "The courts don't honor it if you're in the public eye :(."

Collin has been reacting to some of his mom's posts on his own social media accounts. On Tuesday, June 30, he reacted to Kate's comments about taking legal action.

"Never forget the fact that my mom would write in her diary how she 'had to pray to God to stop hitting me' (this was while I was 2 years old by the way)," Collin wrote in a post on his Instagram Stories. "And this is why using my voice to put these things in the light is so important."

Collin said he "wasn’t sure I’d ever tell this story," when he announced his memoir. “Growing up, millions of people watched my life on television. People felt like they knew me. They knew my family. They watched me grow up. But there was so much they never saw," he wrote in the post.

“For years, I kept those experiences to myself. Some because I was afraid. Some because I didn’t think anyone would believe me. And some because I just wasn’t ready. This isn’t the story people think they know. It’s the story I’ve lived.”

In the Shadow of Eight is the "first account of a secret childhood lived in the gaps between the frames," per the publisher. "Collin is finally sharing the truth about being held down, the basement cell where he was hidden for years, and the cocktail of powerful antipsychotics forced on an 11-year-old boy. This is a reckoning with the dark side of fame: the systems, the entourage, and the institutions that allowed one boy to be erased. This is the never-before-told story of how he escaped and found his way back from the dark."

In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood is set to be released on Oct. 13 and is available for preorder now wherever books are sold.
