Jessi Pierce's podcast cohost is opening up about the death of her friend and collaborator.

Kirsten Krull and Pierce cohosted the *Bardown Beauties* podcast, with the two recording new episodes on Mondays to chat about all things hockey. This Monday, Krull took to social media to reflect on the loss of Pierce, a National Hockey League reporter who died in a fire alongside her three young children and the family's dog in their Minnesota home on March 21.

"Every Monday me and Jessi would sit down to record the *Bardown Beauties* podcast," Krull wrote. "This morning my phone buzzed with a notification that the record is coming up, except today it’s not."

Krull explained how challenging it was to do something as simple as sit by her computer following Pierce's death on a day when the two would normally be recording together. "I know me and so many others are feeling this. It’s cruel that the world doesn’t stop when terrible things happen, even when we desperately beg for it to," she shared.

"The world keeps moving even when we feel like we can’t. All we can do is continue to try to move forward the best we can," Krull added, noting she plans to keep the notifications for her and Pierce's podcast recordings. "My heart hurts for everyone today just doing their best to make it through the day. But for as long as I can, I’ll keep my Monday podcast record notifications on because it reminds me of how much special time I was able to share with Jessi weekly."

A statement released by the Fire Department of White Bear Lake, Minn. explained that first responders were called to Pierce's home on the 2100 block of Richard Ave. at 5:26 a.m. on March 21 after multiple neighbors reported seeing flames coming through the roof. The 37-year-old lived there with her husband, Mike, and their three children, Hudson, Cayden, and Avery. Firefighters arrived at a structure fully engulfed in flames, and by the time they made it inside, Pierce, her children, and the dog were all deceased.

"Our hearts ache for those involved in this tragedy," wrote Fire Chief Greg Peterson. The Department will conduct an investigation into the cause of the fire.
