"After a close call with a su*cide bomber, the Marshals hunt for a co-conspirator armed with an even larger explosive; a suspect's family is distrustful of the government, and it makes getting answers nearly impossible."

According to TV Line, the latest episode of Marshals Season 2 wasted no time in revealing that Kayce and Andrea emerged unharmed after the previous episode's cliffhanger, but Rudy Carpenter was dead. But the conspiracy was far from over. Kayce learned that Carpenter had a potential accomplice in the McCoy household, which sent the team on another mission to stop an impending attack.

Here is the complete recap.

Marshals Season 2 Episode 5 recap: Kayce's unexpected way to connect with a suspect

Will made a run for it when Kayce and Andrea showed up at the McCoy household in Marshals Season 2 Episode 5. Andrea froze when Will ran into the basement, forcing Kayce to jump into the action. Kayce and the suspect found themselves trapped in a collapsing barn. When Will refused to help Kayce move the heavy beam blocking their escape, the Marshal found an unusual way to connect with him. Kayce brought up the harrowing Dutton history to connect with the suspect and move out of the situation.

Kayce connected Will to Jamie Dutton, the black sheep of the Dutton family, recalling how his middle brother relied on his intelligence (rather than strength) to forge his own path. Kayce's tactical strategy worked like a charm in getting through Will. The duo emerged alive in Marshals Season 2 Episode 5 and Kayce learned valuable information from Will: Derek drove a white GMC box truck.

While the McCoy family was tight-lipped, the case got a breakthrough when the team discovered that Derek's brother, Johnny, worked for a trucking company connected to the stolen explosives. Additionally, Johnny's son, Mason, confessed to another shocking family secret: Derek was his biological father. Andrea used this secret to push Mason's mother, Emma, into revealing Derek's next target. Left with no choice, Emma confessed that Derek was targeting Morris Bank and Trust in Helena. Turns out, Derek blamed the bank for taking his family's land.

Things took a turn when Kayce and the team learned Derek was targeting the bankers gathered in a nearby hotel. Since many lives were on the line, the team geared up for a dangerous mission to stop the attack.

Belle impressively tracked Derek and his truck through the traffic in Marshals Season 2 Episode 5. While Andrea distracted Derek from the passenger side, Kayce and Miles pushed their way through the driver's side. While Derek was about to make a move, the team opened fire, killing Derek and putting an end to his explosive plan.

After executing a dangerous mission, Kayce found Andrea in his doorway at the end of the day. Turns out, Andrea was feeling guilty for freezing on the scene and endangering Kayce's life in the barn in Marshals Season 2 Episode 5. While Kayce maintained that it was part of the process, Andrea apologized and finally opened up about her PTSD-induced nightmares.

Andrea confessed that hunting fugitives in off-hours and reopening her father's murder investigation was a way to avoid her PTSD. When Andrea admitted that she was having trouble falling asleep, Kayce offered to make her tea to help with her nightmares. Before Kayce knew it, he found Andrea fast asleep on his couch.
