Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie is now an Emmy nominee.

The actor was nominated for his hosting of Saturday Night Live.

Heated Rivalry was not eligible for nominations due to a rule around “foreign television production.”

Connor Storrie just earned his first Emmy nomination, but not for Heated Rivalry.

The meteoric rise of the Texas-raised actor continues as he becomes Emmy-nominated for his February hosting stint on Saturday Night Live. Storrie is the only performer from SNL to receive a nomination this year, while cast members were snubbed.

SNL still earned other nominations, including ones for Outstanding Variety Series and Directing for a Variety Series.

Storrie now finds himself in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category, which also includes Michael J. Fox and Brett Goldstein for Shrinking, Hamish Linklater for Widow’s Bay, Christopher McDonald for Hacks, and Rob Reiner for The Bear.

Heated Rivalry wasn’t eligible for nominations due to a particular rule from the Television Academy. “Foreign television production is ineligible unless it is the result of a co-production (both financially and creatively) between U.S. and foreign partners, which precedes the start of production, and with a purpose to be shown on U.S. television,” according to the bylaws.

Heated Rivalry is an entirely Canadian production, fully funded and produced by Bell Media for the streaming platform Crave. HBO Max picked up distribution rights for the U.S. and other international territories but doesn’t contribute to the production, even now as the cast and crew plan to return to film season 2.

The Television Academy, however, recognized Heated Rivalry in May as an Honors recipient for being a show that advances social change.

SNL tapped Storrie to host back in February after Heated Rivalry season 1 became an overnight sensation, propelling its leads to stardom. Storrie and his costar, Hudson Williams, first appeared as hosts for the Golden Globes awards ceremony, and their public appearances led the man behind Russian hockey stud Ilya Rozanov to the NBC late-night comedy show’s stage.

Williams notably popped in for a couple of cameos on Storrie’s SNL episode, and he embraced him during the end-credit thank-yous.

“This has truly been an absolute dream come true,” Storrie said on stage for his episode. “My biggest thank you to Lorne Michaels [executive producer] for having me here. Biggest thank you ever.”
