Cave, who joined OnlyFans last year to supplement her income, admitted it was “embarrassing” to be unable to make ends meet for her family. Noting that people often assume actors are wealthy, she said the small roles she’s gotten in the years since starring as Lavender Brown in the *Harry Potter *franchise have not been enough to pay the bills.

“People just assume I’m rich and I have loads of money and no I don’t,” Cave said Thursday on the UK talk show *This Morning*. “So it was embarrassing because on a certain level, I would have really liked to get a job. But you know what it’s like, you have kids. It costs so much for childcare.”

The *Industry *actress acknowledged that she chose a “weird job” that could be difficult to manage with four kids.

“It’s a very small proportion of people who can work regularly and I have done the odd job here and I have managed to keep afloat for 18 years,” she continued. “And then it just came to a moment a couple of years ago where I was like, ‘Oh yeah, I really don’t know what I would do,’ and this was an option.”

And Cave is happy with that option, as she noted there was “so much beauty” on OnlyFans because “you’re engaging with people that you would never usually speak to all around the world.” As for who inspired her to join the site, the actress cited Lily Allen and Kate Nash—both of whom have used OnlyFans for extra cash—as catalysts for her own journey.

While the platform is known for its NSFW content, Cave posts non-explicit videos showing off, brushing, and braiding her ultra-long hair. She said the experience “definitely made me more confident as a woman.”

“I’ve always just been very awkward, very, very weird,” she said. “And this has kind of made me be like, ‘Oh, I can actually just do a photo of myself and try and look hot. That’s quite nice,’ which I’m in control of.”

Cave previously shared that she made £15,000 (equivalent to around $20,449 at the time of writing) in a single day on OnlyFans. Over the course of a year on the platform, she said that she made more than she had in her entire acting career.

“I thought I’d make five grand, be on it for a few months and it would buy me time to work out what we’re going to do,” she told *The Times* on Aug. 7. “But it’s now been over a year and a half and it’s genuinely saved our lives.”

While on *This Morning*, Cave emphasized that she is still acting in one-woman shows, and OnlyFans is simply a way to make extra income.

“This is how I’m making a living as an artist which... I want to have less shame about it,” she concluded. “I want other people who do weird art like me, I want them to know that there is some way of still making [it].”
