- Dean Cain made a negative comment on social media about Milly Alcock, who portrays the title character in the June feature film release *Supergirl*.

- Cain portrayed "The Man of Steel" on TV's *Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman *in the '90s.

- Alcock's character will star in this month's *Supergirl* movie.

Actor Dean Cain is facing backlash for a comment he recently made about *Supergirl* star Milly Alcock.

After all, Cain, 59, portrayed "The Man of Steel" on TV's *Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman*, which aired for four seasons, between 1993 and 1997.

He reposted a photo of Alcock, 26, suited up and with pierced ears Sunday on X, captioned, "Wait… if Supergirl's skin is bulletproof, how does she have ear piercings?"

When someone else commented, "And why does she look like this guy?" with a photo of *Land of the Lost *character Cha-Ka, who resembles an ape, Cain was amused.

"Dang it," Cain wrote, "I laughed."

After a user typed, "Millie Alcock isn't ugly. They just put out terrible pictures of her," Cain insisted that he hadn't said she was ugly.

Still, hundreds of Reddit users didn't approve of Cain speaking about Alcock's appearance.

"She is like the most conventionally attractive woman ever. We can't win," one Reddit user posted.

Another replied, "I still remember when these chuds used to call Sydney Sweeney a mid chick with big tits. Then they found out she was maga and suddenly they started acting like she was the most beautiful woman in the world."

"Lots of men were also saying similar things about Sweeney — calling her mid and a butterface etc. Even Margot Robbie has been called mid by men online," another Reddit user responded, to which someone replied, "I just laughed out loud thinking about Margot Robbie and 'mid' in the same sentence."

** has reached out to representatives for Cain, Alcock, and DC Studios.

Meanwhile, Alcock was busy promoting her upcoming film. While she took on the role of Kara Zor-El/Supergirl in 2025's *Superman*, which featured David Corenswet, she's headlining the new movie.

"Of course I’m scared," Alcock told *Vanity Fair* in an interview in March. "Of course I want people to like me and the movie. But ultimately, it’s out of my control."

The actress said her work on TV's *Game of Thrones *prequel* House of the Dragon *had been good preparation for any negative response directed at her in the part.

"It definitely made me aware that simply existing as a woman in that space is something that people comment on," Alcock said. "We have become very comfortable having this weird ownership of women’s bodies."

Her philosophy was to worry about what she could change.

"I can't really stop them," Alcock said. "I can only be myself."

Director Craig Gillespie told ** in March that viewers would see a difference in the related characters of Superman and Supergirl.

"They have such different upbringings," Gillespie, who also directed* Lars and the Real Girl* and *I, Tonya*, said. "Superman hasn't gone through trauma. He came from a very loving family and was almost groomed to be in this role, whereas Supergirl has been through trauma, and the role's kind of being pushed upon her at a later age, and she's having to adjust to that."

He teased, "Even though they're cousins, you get this almost older-sibling dynamic and that can be adversarial at times. He's the gentle guy that wants to reach out and be patient, and she's having to find a way and find herself."

*Supergirl* arrives in theaters June 26.
