The Brady Bunch aired from 1969 to 1974
The show’s cast, who would sometimes have an episode with a musical number, expanded on those performances in a U.S. tour, singing popular songs in the early 1970s
Eve Plumb recently reacted to footage of one of those performances, shared on Threads
Eve Plumb is impressed by what The Brady Bunch cast could accomplish.
On Saturday, Oct. 10, publicist Danny Deraney shared a video on Threads of the six child stars of the series performing “Proud Mary” during a July 1973 performance at the Hollywood Bowl.
The clip caught the attention of Plumb, 68, who replied, writing, “Ok! I’m out of breath just watching this.”
“This is not the variety show, but part of an act we had taken on the road around the country,” the actress, who portrayed Jan Brady, explained. “The costumes were made by a costume designer and were our opening act costumes. Watching this, I’m amazed that we were able to pull off what we had spent months learning how to do.”

Barry Williams, who starred as Greg Brady, wrote about the performances in his 1992 memoir, Growing Up Brady: I Was a Teenage Greg.
Of preparing for these performances, he wrote, “We hired a couple of Vegas veterans, Ray Reese and Joe Seiter, who, we were told, could make anyone look good onstage. They were set to direct us, choreograph us, and help us select appropriate songs,” per MeTV.

In a May 2025 appearance on The Magnificent Others with Billy Corgan, Cindy Brady’s Susan Olsen shared her memories of the group’s time on the road, noting it was then that she realized how big the Brady phenomenon had become.
“The screaming kids [in the audience] didn’t happen until we went out, you know, with the music,” she said. “And so we had been kind of sheltered…. But we didn’t really know that we were that popular until we went out on the road... There was so much fame.”
Some of the six were interested in keeping the music side of things going after the show’s cancellation, Olsen shared.
“When the show ended… we were still going to continue the music, but Barry wanted to do his own solo thing. And Maureen wasn’t into it. And Chris quit before the show was canceled,” she explained. “So yeah, at the time I was like, ‘Oh, you’re breaking up the band.’ But I thoroughly understand.”
