Adam Huber and his wife Rachel are expecting their first baby, due on March 9

The couple discovered the pregnancy during a flight and shared the news with family, who were thrilled

They recently moved to Kansas City to be closer to Rachel’s parents and are planning future family adventures

Adam and Rachel Huber are going to be parents!

The Dynasty star, 39, and the beauty influencer, 25, are expecting their first baby together, sharing the news exclusively with PEOPLE. Rachel, who is due on March 9, shares that she and Adam are “so ready” to become parents nearly one year after they tied the knot in Croatia.

“We were flying home after visiting my family in Kansas City, and I happened to have a pregnancy test in my bag that was left over from a pack I’d bought the month before,” Rachel tells PEOPLE. “I literally just thought it would be funny to take a pregnancy test on an airplane — I truly was not expecting it to be positive.”

“Sure enough, two lines showed up almost immediately! I tried to keep the news to myself for the rest of the flight, but that lasted about 20 minutes before I ended up telling Adam right there on the airplane,” she explains.

Rachel says she was “so nervous” telling her friends and family the big news, and that her hands would shake every time she’d tell a new person.

“I think a lot of that was because we knew no one was expecting it — granted, neither were we,” she explains. “My parents had a really great reaction. My mom just kept repeating ‘OMG’ over and over again, which eventually turned into her jumping up and down. This will be their first grandbaby, so I knew we were going to get a pretty big reaction out of them.”

Although she and Adam know the sex of their baby, they won’t be sharing the news until they are officially parents.

“We found out through SneakPeek at six weeks and recently had it confirmed through our NIPT (noninvasive prenatal testing). When we got the results, we picked out two baby outfits — one for a boy and one for a girl — and had the cashier look at the results and wrap up the correct one without telling us,” says Rachel.

“Then Adam and I went home and opened it together, just the two of us. It was such a sweet way to find out,” she adds.

So far, Rachel says she’s been “blessed” to not have any morning sickness or nausea.

“My biggest complaint by far has been the exhaustion. I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever been this tired in my life, but somehow I’m also incapable of taking naps,” she shares. “As far as cravings go, sour candy, lots of fruit, and PB&J grilled cheese have been the big ones. I have Hailee Catalano’s TikTok to thank for introducing me to that last one.”

As she gets closer to becoming a mom, Rachel says she felt shocked by the news at first. But now that she’s had time to process it, she and her husband are excited to grow their family together.

“It definitely happened a lot sooner than we anticipated, so there was a lot of shock at first, but now we’re beyond excited,” she says. “There are so many changes happening all at once — we just sold our house in Atlanta and decided to move closer to my mom and dad in Kansas City — so this next chapter is going to be full of new experiences for us.”

“We’re so ready for it, though. We’ve already started planning Baby Huber’s first European vacation next summer or fall, so I think it’s safe to say we’re very excited to bring the baby into our lives and adventures.”
