Donald Trump has been ruthlessly humiliated by The Daily Show after a rather embarrassing moment at Joint Base Andrews.
On Wednesday, September 23, Trump welcomed China's President Xi Jinping to the United States for his historic three-day visit. Breaking standard protocol, Trump greeted Xi at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, the first time in 11 years that a US President has met a foreign leader at an airbase. The last time this happened was in 2015 when President Barack Obama greeted Pope Francis.
At the arrival ceremony, a 100-foot red carpet was rolled out for Xi and his wife, Peng Liyuan, with two supersonic B-1 bombers performing a roaring low-level flyover.

And it was this moment that led to Trump being incessantly mocked by The Daily Show, which compared his reaction to the flyover to a "baby who got spooked by its own fart."

During September 24's episode of the comedy series, host Desi Lydic teased Trump, as she told viewers, "Trump picked [Xi] up at the airport? Okay, that is friendship. I don't even pick my own kid up at the airport."
The show played a clip of the 80-year-old walking with the Chinese president, his wife, and Melania Trump down the huge red carpet, adding, "But the other reason to meet Xi at the airport was so that Trump could impress him with a flyover of B-1 Bombers. Let's show China that America never wavers and never flinches."
In a rather humiliating moment for Trump, a clip then ran of the president flinching and grimacing as the planes flew overhead, something many people have teased him about.
"Oh my god, that is so embarrassing," Lydic said. "Why did you wince like that? You are the one who ordered the flyover. It's like when a baby farts so loud, it scares itself."
Moreover, the 45-year-old comedian claimed this moment was "not a good omen" for negotiations with China, noting that there are "major issues" at stake, such as trade, AI, and the war with Iran.

"Now President Xi knows all he has to do to rattle Trump is drop a book on the floor," Lydic continued. Following the broadcast, The Daily Show posted the moment on its social media, writing, "Trump reacted to his own flyover like a baby who got spooked by his own fart."
In response, one viewer commented, "It's not like he didn't know it was coming," as another added, "Maybe he did fart at the same time??" A third joked, "He thought it was an attack," with a fourth viewer concluding, "Of course books scare Trump; he has never opened one."
