On Aug. 2, Vice President JD Vance celebrated his 42nd birthday on Earth, but in the celestial sky above, his birthday yielded a warning about what could happen in the months ahead for him and the nation.
That’s because in astrology, the practice of interpreting the planets and constellations for answers, a birthday horoscope represents when the sun returns to exactly where it was on your birthday, or your “solar return” in astrology-speak.

During this time, astrologers look at astrological placements in the sky to understand your internal world and potential roadblocks in your life. “We cast a chart for that moment, and that chart tells us about the incoming year,” said astrologer Catherine Urban.
Like President Donald Trump, Vance is a Leo rising, which means that the zodiac sign of Leo was ascending on the eastern horizon at the exact moments both Vance and Trump were born. Leo is also Vance’s sun sign.
Leo “is the sign of fame, which is the sign of being known, having a name,” said Kristina Martin, who co-hosts the podcast “It’s a Sign! The Art of Alignment.” But since Vance was born in the early morning when the sun isn’t fully visible, his life has a tinge “of being a little bit more behind the scenes or hidden,” Martin said.
But maybe not for long.

Urban said if she were giving Vance a reading, she would tell him that “the chances for you to take on more responsibility are increasing this year, but you have to play your cards right, and you have to make sure that you’re aligned with the right people.”
And this prospective rise could be exciting or alarming for admirers and political enemies of Vance.

In astrology, the sky is divided up into 12 equal segments known as “houses” that are each associated with an area of life and a Zodiac sign. And in Vance’s chart, the moon is located in his sixth house, which represents “matters related to health,” Urban noted. It might not even be his own health, but someone close to him like Trump, Urban suggested.
When the moon is in the sixth house, “a lot of my clients, they may have family members who are sick and ailing, and it’s not their health that they’re most concerned about. It’s about taking care of others,” Urban explained.

Worse: Vance’s moon is located at a position where it will not intersect with any other planets in its current trajectory while in this Zodiac house. In astrology-speak, the moon is “void of course,” and for Vance, it represents uncertainty in health, Urban explained.
“What that basically indicates is that there’s a lack of certainty about what comes next for him,” Urban said.

Beyond his birthday, astrologers said there are few dates later this year that could rock Vance’s world.
On Aug. 12, a solar eclipse in Leo could be a make-or-break moment for Vance’s career. “Eclipses are course correctors,” Urban said. “They shift our path and they bring major and swift changes to our lives, and sometimes there are experiences where the path is cleared and there’s opportunities for elevation.”

“We see the rise and sometimes fall of leaders” during this time, Urban said, citing how a total solar eclipse occurred after the start of Trump’s first presidency.
On top of that, Venus is in retrograde, appearing to move backward across the sky as seen from Earth. For people who believe in astrology, a Venus retrograde is a time for relationship reassessments and to “see if things are working or if they’re not,” Martin said.
For Vance, this Venus retrograde will happen when Pluto crosses into the part of the sky represented by Libra, a sign that represents relationships. “Pluto is the planet of power dynamics,” Martin said. “I’m definitely going to be watching his relationship with Trump ... I would think it’s going to be a break with Trump.”
In general, a birthday matters so much in astrology because it’s when the sun returns to where it was on the day you were born, and “the sun represents the core part of your identity,” Martin said. It’s “how you shine outward, like what you’re proud of about yourself, what you want the world to see you as.”

So for astrologers, a birthday is “a starting point, a new sort of cycle” for your values and relationships, Martin added.
For Vance, his chart is indicating “big changes in identity, purpose, and partnership, and career,” Urban said. “This is a time period for all Leo risings, they’re going through major personal evolution.”
