White is the head coach of the Indiana Fever, a professional women’s basketball team. A former athlete herself, White played for four seasons with the Fever before retiring in 2004.

After her retirement, she held various assistant coaching positions before signing on with the Chicago Sky as an assistant coach in 2007. She held the job for three years before becoming an assistant coach for the Fever from 2011 to 2014. From 2015 to 2016, she was the Fever’s head coach.

White then transitioned to become the head coach of the women’s basketball team at Vanderbilt University from 2016 to 2021. She moved back to the WNBA as head coach of the Connecticut Suns from 2023 to 2024, before returning to the Fever in 2025.

White often makes headlines for her relationship with Fever star Caitlin Clark. The women have been seen engaging in animated sideline conversations during games. “I really appreciate Steph,” Clark said at the end of the Fever’s 2026 season. “This is, I like to say, the best job in women’s basketball, and possibly women’s sports. Getting to lead this franchise that has so much notoriety. But at the same time, it can come with some negatives, and people are gonna criticize everything that you do, and that’s just reality, and people expect greatness.”

Salters is 11 years White’s senior. White was born on June 20, 1977, and turned 49 in 2026, while Salters was born on March 6, 1966, and turned 60 in 2026.
