Logan Goodrid took Vanessa Drozda by surprise when he proposed in the Age of Attraction finale, despite expressing doubts
The pair have a 20-year age gap, with Logan being 29 and Vanessa being 49
They tell PEOPLE what they felt in that dramatic moment and reveal an update about their relationship status today
In the season finale of Age of Attraction, what first appeared as a breakup speech took a surprising turn when it ended with a proposal.
The dramatic episode, which dropped on Netflix Wednesday, March 25, saw Logan Goodrid and Vanessa Drozda get engaged despite their admissions of doubt leading up to the commitment ceremony. In the scene, Logan, 29, called his relationship with Vanessa, 49, “difficult” and took a long pause before asking her to give back her promise ring.
"Our journey has been everything but picture perfect," he noted. "The chaos that we found, is that toxic or was it healthy?"

"My first instinct is always the correct instinct, and I should stick with my first gut instinct on someone. Maybe I was just trying to fit a square peg into a round hole,” Vanessa said, later adding, “Is this the part where you break up with me?”
Suddenly, Logan revealed that was the opposite of what he wanted to do. When he got down on one knee and proposed, a shocked Vanessa said yes.
PEOPLE recently caught up with the couple, who shared what was going through their minds in the emotional moment.
“When I was up there and she thought I had my speech, I froze,” Logan explains. “I paused too long because I forgot my line, so I was freaking out and I didn't know what to do.”
He says that he had “rehearsed” his speech, but things didn’t exactly go according to plan once he was face to face with his now-fiancée.
“I will say, I fell in love, and I knew that I was going to leave with her,” he says. “I think ultimately it came down to I was nervous. I didn't know. I didn't ever think that I was going to get [engaged]. When I flew to Vancouver five weeks prior, I didn't think I was going to get down on one knee. I haven't thought of that ever.”

“So, to be honest, I was leaning towards it that day and before, but I was like, ‘No, that's crazy. That's crazy,’” Logan admits. “So up until that moment when I forgot what I was going to say, it was, ‘Logan, what are you going to do?’”

It was then that Vanessa admits the panic set in and she wondered if the relationship had been one-sided all along.
“I knew he had a little apprehension, and he's not somebody that's had a big, long-term relationship. So there was that in the back of my mind,” she explains. “When he hit that pause, it was just like this feeling of, ‘Whoa, was I having this experience by myself? Was he not ready yet?’ So I was like, ‘Oh gosh, I did wrong again.’ I just remember staring out over the mountain like, ‘Is this really happening to me right now? Maybe I'll just go jump off the side.’”
In the time leading up to the big day, Logan shares that it was scary to contemplate the logistics of going “back into the real world” as a couple after the experiment.
“That's where the rubber meets the road,” he says. “So how is this going to work? You're teeter-tottering on the idea of, how are you going to get back into real life? But I was like, ‘I love her, and she's somebody that I haven't met ever in my life.’ So I was like, ‘You know what? Let's take the risk.’”
“We both knew we wanted to be together, we just didn't know what it looked like," Vanessa adds. "I had no idea he was going to propose to me on the mountain. I was wanting something just to show how serious he was about the commitment. So I was really happy that he did that.”
As for where the two stand today, she reveals, “We're still going strong.”
