Savannah Mooney appeared on season 5 of 16 & Pregnant

Savannah and her first child's dad, Stone, broke up shortly after the show

In ID's Hollywood Demons: Surviving 16 & Pregnant, Savannah opened up about trying to get her life back on track, only for it to be derailed in her next relationship

Savannah Mooney has walked a tough path in trying to make the best life for herself and her family.

Mooney appeared on season 5 of MTV's 16 & Pregnant, sharing her story of choosing to have her baby despite living with an alcoholic mom who struggled financially. Sharing her story in ID's Hollywood Demons: Surviving 16 & Pregnant, she recalled how she shared the news that she and then-boyfriend Stone were expecting.

“My mom found out I was pregnant because I left the pregnancy test in the bathroom. She just told me she wasn’t raising another child," she recalled.

Savannah had no intention of trying to seek out attention for her life story. Instead, a friend decided to sign her up for 16 & Pregnant.

"I was like, 'Those kinds of things don't happen to people like me.' So she sent in an email for me, and three months later, I got a phone call."

Savannah admitted she had "concerns" when it came to sharing her life and pregnancy on TV.

"One was that it would split Stone and I completely, and to a point, it did. And my second fear was my mom being my mom and doing what she does, drinking," she admitted.

"She's a very vile person when she's drunk, and I feared that she was just going to be so hateful to everybody. But I mean, my fear came true.”

Savannah's journey on the show includes a huge blowout between her and her mother, where she calls the police, concerned for her little brother's well-being if he remains in the home after she leaves with her own baby.

The incident is made worse by the fact that Savannah was struggling in her relationship with Stone, leaving much of the responsibility of raising Rowan in her hands.

"Stone and I were not on good terms at all. We argued the entire time we were filming. I was miserable. After the show, we broke up. I wanted to be a mom to Rowan... but I feel like I failed my son because he's growing up in a broken home."

Savannah claimed she struggled with relationships and getting her own footing in life. Further, she got hate online from the 16 & Pregnant community after her episode aired.

"After my episode came up, I had to turn my phone off from the notifications that were coming in. There was a fair share of negative comments because how dare the Black girl make it on TV? There was one girl that posted something like, 'Imagine being famous for opening your legs,' " she recalled.

"I was incredibly depressed and incredibly sad. Rowan went to live with Stone's mom. And then I think I was 19, 20. I was in a very abusive relationship, on and off again, and after that, I lost myself completely."

She believed she found her "happily ever after" in Jonathan O'Dell, eight years later. She was excited to learn they were expecting a daughter, but her world was rocked again about halfway through her pregnancy. At the time, a friend of Jonathan's was staying with the couple.

"We had this big bay window and. I was being nosy, and I can see military personnel. There's two choppers in the air, every agency you could possibly imagine was there," she shared.

"The next thing I remember is flashbangs and smoke bombs, everywhere. Jonathan laid on top of me in the hallway. His friend comes out dressed and bulletproof vest, all the works, and his friend shot 11 shots out of the window at the FBI and cracked their Bearcat window. I just kind of accepted the fact that I was going to die that morning."

Savannah was unaware that Jonathan and his friend "were part of a self-named group called The Second Amendment militia," who had plans to "go to the border and shoot immigrants."

As the incident unfolded at her house, Savannah saw an opportunity to get out and took the chance, hoping she'd be spared.

“I got up and I ran out of the door with my hands up and said, ‘Please don’t shoot. I’m 24 weeks pregnant,' " she recalled.

"They snatched me up and cuffed me and threw me in the back of the Bearcat, and I sat out in the cold for two and a half hours, when they finally uncuffed me and told me I wasn’t under arrest.”

Jonathan was arrested as a result of the situation and will spend the rest of his life in prison after being sentenced to a total of 165 years in federal prison without parole, per the U.S. Department of Justice.

Today, Savannah raises their daughter, who has never met her father other than by video call. She noted, “I don’t blame the show. It’s not show-related that I was with him. I was looking to fill a void, and it didn’t."

The mom was happy to share that she has also reestablished her relationship with Rowan, adding, "The older I get, the more I see that no amount of love from people on the internet, no amount of love from people who watch you on TV will do that.”

Hollywood Demons: Surviving 16 & Pregnant premieres Monday, May 18 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on ID. Episodes are available to stream on HBO Max.
